Big, Big News!!
How has it already been almost two months since I blogged?
To be honest, every time I tried to write something, only one thing would come to mind. And it was the one thing I couldn't make public knowledge. So...I just put off blogging for awhile.
But not any longer! I can finally share my news!
About mid-November, an opportunity came across my path. I was browsing on Youth With A Mission's (YWAM) website. If you haven't heard of them, YWAM is "a global movement of Christians from many cultures, age groups and Christian traditions, dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world." (here's their website if you want to know more: http://www.ywam.org/ )
While looking around, I discovered that YWAM runs Discipleship Training Schools (DTS) at many of their international bases. This is a six month program focused on mission-focused training. There are three months of lecturing, where students take classes about the nature of God, sin and the cross, the Holy Spirit, missions, identity, etc. Then, the next two to three months are the outreach phase. Usually overseas, the outreach phase is all about mission work. Students take what they learned in the lecture phase onto the mission field in countries around the world.
This DTS program caught my attention and as I continued to browse around, I found a DTS that has a focus in Arts and Media, how to use the different aspects of arts and media to reach people for Jesus. This DTS is located in Rostrevor, Northern Ireland, with the outreach in the UK, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
I have to say, this DTS really pulled at my heart! Worship arts, in all it's forms, has been my passion for years and I know that God wants to use me to reach others through the art avenue.
Okay, not hard to guess what happens from here. I prayed and prayed and prayed some more. I applied. And two months later, I got accepted!
So, I'm going to Northern Ireland! I leave March 13th, just six weeks away! *panicked face* I will return August 31st.
Would you all do me a huge favor? Please pray for me as I prepare to go and while I'm gone. Pray I will learn more about Jesus and myself, that God will show me his will, that I and my fellow students will reach many people for Christ. I would also appreciate your prayers as I try to raise the funds I need for my outreach phase. I have faith God will provide, but I'll take all the prayers I can get! If you would like to donate financially, let me know and I'll tell you how to go about that.
So, there's the big news! I'm beyond excited to see how God is going to lead me through this Discipleship Training School. I'm also very thankful for those who helped me with my application and for those who have been praying for me throughout the process. Thank you all!
"For God who said, 'Let light shine out of darkness,' made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of Christ." II Corinthians 4:6
