Forgive Me, Dear Friends!
How easy it is to let the days and weeks slip by!
I cannot believe I have already been here for six weeks and will shortly be halfway through my lecture phase! Where has the time gone? Am I still making every minute count? Will I look back on this time with any regrets?
I hope you will forgive me, like the wonderful friends that you are, for not blogging as much as I should have. Okay, let's be real, I've barely blogged at all. And I am sorry! But I won't take time with excuses, though, but rather catch you up on some of what I have experienced in these six weeks of DTS.
Lectures have been so eye opening for me. In six weeks, God has pulled the carpet out from under my feet, and I've fallen headlong into a Christianity and a relationship with God that I never knew existed. The process has been overwhelming. I have cried tears of frustration and ran singing with joyful abandon. I questioned everything I've ever known, but discovered a God that is more extravagant, more beautiful, and more wild than I ever could have imagined. And while I've been falling in love with the fullness of God, He has been falling in love with me again. It's mind-blowing, humbling, and so beautiful.
But, DTS is so much more than the lectures! Learning to share a room with four other amazing girls, cooking for scores of people I don't even know, figuring out how to relate to a country that does, and then somehow doesn't, speak the same language as I...at times, it's trying. But through it all, God continues to reveal little pieces of His heart to reflect and little pieces of mine to be healed.
I've also rediscovered and embraced the gifts God has given me, and begun to see how desperately He wants to redeem art in His church. Our God's heart is alive with color, dance, song and word. These gifts have often been stifled or ignored in church, and thus this incredible mosaic is missing perhaps some of the most beautiful and important tiles. But since being here at YWAM, listening and gleaning from my speakers, staff, and students, I'm beginning to feel the current swell under my feet. A wave of painters, poets, designers, dancers, and musicians that are just waiting to overwhelm the body of Christ, reviving beauty and revealing God's heart. How exciting to be a part of that!
There are a few areas in which I would love some prayer for my team!
- We are traveling to Harpenden and Bristol (England) next week to attend a YWAM conference and to spend time evangelizing, almost like a mini-outreach. Pray for smooth travel, open hearts to receive Christ, and boldness on our parts to share.
- Any day now, (hopefully!!) we will be learning which outreach teams we will be placed on. Pray for God's Kingdom to come on earth as our team evangelizes together throughout Ireland and then separately in Scotland and Wales.
- Continue to pray that God gives us strong, teachable and courageous hearts day in and day out.
I miss you all so much and am so thankful for your support! Enjoy the bright sun, the ripening peaches, and the restful summer days for me! I will quite contently enjoy taking pictures of my green fields, stone castles and fluffy sheep, thank you very much. Love from Ireland!
